Earth Beats is an plea to preserve the Earth and its natural resources, born out of the urgency of the present situation.

In this impermanent world, not a single thing is constant except change. A change that can now be visibly observed in our surroundings and has been brought by the science of innovation. Technology and modernization has altered the course of human history and our way of living as well, making life more convenient and providing them with essential knowledge resulting to productivity. With the help of new knowledge that is taught through classroom curriculums, we are learning more and more everyday. We are completely immersed in furthering our learning in Science, Mathematics and Technology which are all beneficial, making us educated individuals who are not intimidated by innovations and change.

The Arvo Pärt Centre combines the composer’s personal archive with an information and music centre. It is an open meeting place for musicians, researchers and music lovers—for anyone interested in Arvo Pärt’s music and world of ideas.

I was in Estonia for the entire  January 2023. It was freezing cold, with temperatures as low as -25 degrees, a snowstorm swept through the country. Warm cafés with fireplaces where coffee and cardamom buns were served were oases in the ice landscape.

During my residency at the Arvo Pärt Centre i recorded an explorational album, called “earth beats”.
I wanted to capture the unique atmosphere of this room, the wood and the sound of this piano. The tracks are left organic and natural, unmastered as they were recorded.

Look where the improvement of technology has brought us; we have come so far, we have now unlocked our capabilities and still continue to do so. Certainly, there is now a better future ahead of us because of modernization, however, we must not forget to look back at where all of these things began−to nature; which plays a significant role in keeping everything in this world intact and interconnected. Without it, we wouldn’t be experiencing our existence today. Technology may have help a lot with our advancement, but this affects nature negatively. Because of the thirst of humans for new knowledge, we are unanticipatedly neglecting our duties in taking good care of our environment.
